2. Define Product or Service (once you have the objective clear or if you have an idea on what to do already).

The second step is probably the first for some people, it is defining clearly and exactly what will be the site about, the products or services it will provide and how will it provide them. For the people who already had an idea on what their site would be all about, this step might be a little easier. The important issues to check out at this stage are the resources available to you and your own abilities and experiences. It is important as well to avoid some common pitfalls that many (including me) seem to keep on falling into. First of all, try to keep it simple, start slow but steady; don't overwhelm yourself with too much work before you even get started. For example, if your site will be about music, don't start by trying to get all your favorite singers' biographies and their whole discographies, start by picking out one or two and slowly adding up more.

Next, try to keep your expectations low and your feet grounded, if you are just starting, don't hope to be getting thousands of visits daily or to have a whole community supporting you. This is a common pitfall many people fall into, take this for example. The site foobar.com was all about art, especially modern concept art. And one of the webmaster's expectations was to have a monthly competition that had a signed poster as the price. He was just starting and already hoped to have 10+ contestants, in that month, he only had about 35 visitors, and none of them participated in the contest, the result? The site was taken down. It is easy to get discouraged when things don't go as expected, so it's better to hope for small things at first, there will be time to fulfill greater dreams later.

This site's service is information, mostly, but not limited to, computing and technology. This information comes in two forms, editorial articles (that discuss general matters and give an opinion on specific subjects) and tutorials (that give step by step information on the "how to" and "know how" of many specific issues). This article in itself is a tutorial. Aside from that, this site also provides a way for the community to express itself through the comments system and through the e-mail addresses of each author and the webmaster. It is also a public forum since it accepts outside contributions (as long as they follow some simple guidelines and principles).
