Usually there are two ways of uploading a site, one is the traditional HTTP File Manager upload; here, the hosting provider will have you some 5 to 20 fields all with a browse button for you to select which files to upload. This might be a tiresome process when you have to upload 100+ files, but if you have to upload 50 or less files, it can be manageable. The HTTP File Manager upload is dependent on the hosting provider you have chosen and it may vary from one provider to another. The other method is the FTP upload. Your hosting service will provide you with your FTP information, like FTP server, login name, password and user path. The method is software dependent, meaning that it will vary according to the program you are using, but it will mostly be the same for all. /FTP Upload Tutorial/ One thing to remember is that when you are uploading your files you must recreate the file structure found on your local PC, so if in your computer the file 'next.gif' is in the images folder under your home directory (the directory where your index page is located), then the file must be uploaded to a folder named images under the home directory of the server. |
