3. Expanding the grid.

You might be trying to imagine the basic grid in action and you might have already found a weak spot. How can the basic grid be squared and yet not look completely awful? The answer is simple; it doesn't have to be squared! Yeah, that's right, you can make it wider, longer or distort it in any fashion you see fit to suit your needs. Elements inside the grid might be displaces, overlapped or engulfed by others. It's ok. Some people feel that the 3 x 3 layout is just too simple, well how about 4 x 4 or 5 x 5. Hey but I said it doesn't have to be squared, so why not 5 x 3 or 6 x 4. There is just no limit. The importance here on this quick topic is that there doesn’t have to be a limit on either the size or the subdivisions of the grid. There is no rule of thumb when regarding to web grids, it's just a new concept ready to be experimented with, so play with it for a while and see how your mind adapts the basic grid to your dreamed layout.
